Ban on You Tube Lifted!

A decision by the Thai ICT Ministry to lift a ban on You Tube announced yesterday was a good one. My previous article on freedom of expression especially my criticism towards the government decision to bar access to You Tube met with public anger and criticism. Still I think people have the rights to information and if people outside can view those “inappropriate photos”, the Thais should be allowed to see the same. However, this decision is a conditional one – the government must have asked for an agreement of You Tube to bar “inappropriate photos of prominent Thai figures” in the future.

Its good news, I think. Maybe the Malaysian govt will learn from its Northern neighbours and get YouTube to self-censor itself. 🙂
