a way out and it always works!

24 01 2008

of late we heard that the former Prime Minister Thaksin would return to Thailand in May. This is confirmed by Khunying Potjaman Shinawatra while she was defending herself at the Supreme Court yesterday. since he left the country in 2006, there has been rumours that he would come back one day, but it was pretty clear for us all that with the presence of the militiary in power, a chance for his return was very limited. even with the formation of the PPP as a government, that would not guarantee that the former prime minister could come back safely.

so what will be a safe wayout for a smart man like our former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra?

will he simply follow the example of Field Marshal Thanom Kittikajorn – who left the country after the riot on 14 October 1973 and later returned to the country as a monk. some say he has reserved a place in Yannawa Temple already. if that is true, i must say that it might be a way out for political leaders of this country that always works.

Buddhism has a strong influence on Thai society. if he become a buddhist monk, he will have people sympathy as it would mean that he is sorry to what he has done…so is it worthed all the efforts to GET him OUT of Thailand in the first place???
